An Art Collection Inspired by Tuckernuck Island
“Flow” is a deeply personal art collection that reflects the serenity and power of the ocean, drawn from my cherished memories of Tuckernuck Island off Nantucket. This is the first time I have tried to capture the peaceful spirit I feel whenever I am by the sea. The ocean has always been my happy place, its calming presence soothing my soul.. I wanted to translate that feeling—how the second I can smell that salty air and feel the breeze I breathe better, how the sound of seagulls brings back childhood memories of chasing them along the shore or trying to get my sandwich back, the sensation of salt on my skin driving back to the cottage for an outdoor shower.
Growing up on Cape Cod, summers were a time to escape into the slow rhythm of the island, and those experiences have stayed with me. The ocean's ebb and flow, its ever-changing nature, continues to inspire me—reminding me of the beauty and balance in life's constant motion. As I paint, I try to reflect that tranquil yet invigorating energy—something that has always grounded me. This collection is an ode to those summer memories and the timeless connection I feel to the sea.
This body of work is particularly emotional and personal, as Tuckernuck Island also holds a significant place in my heart for another reason. It is where my best friend and her husband—also a dear friend—had their cottage, a place that has so many treasured moments. Tragically, we lost him just over a year ago. His passing left a space that words cannot describe, and through this collection, I hope to honor him. The ocean, with its cycles of renewal, represents a profound metaphor for life, loss, and healing.
In “Flow,” you’ll see a visual representation of the elements that have shaped me: the fluidity of water, the calming palette of ocean blues and greens, the touch of the wind, and the salt in the air. This work is my way of sharing my love for the ocean, my connection to the island, and the sense of freedom it brings—a place where I can simply breathe and be, and where memories of
love, friendship, and loss will forever live on.
